The story behind Cask 9 goes back four centuries. After the famous ‘Flight of the Earls’ – or the Wild Geese – in 1607, many Irish noblemen spread out and settled across Europe and the New World. Having been lovers of fine wine in Ireland, many got involved in the wine trade, founding or buying chateaux and giving rise to the movement known today as ‘The Wine Geese’.
Legend has it that one clever goose based would chalk the number 9 on the very best barrels in a shipment, so those in Ireland would know which wines to bid on when they were shipped home and auctioned for sale.
Cask 9 carries on that tradition today, having our team of winemakers select their very best lots for us. Why would they do that? They know that the state of the art Cask 9 wine on tap system will ensure that every glass of wine is served in perfect condition.
